College of Western Idaho (CWI) hosted its 2014 Fall State of the College Address, Wednesday (Aug. 20), providing an opportunity to celebrate CWI’s accomplishments from the past year while sharing future goals and initiatives. CWI also used the event to recognize its outstanding employees with the presentation of the College’s Staff and Faculty of the Year awards. Kristin Clovis (left) of Workforce Development received the top staff honor and Math Instructor, Cathy Carson (right), was named Faculty of the Year. Congratulations to both Kristin and Cathy for the well-deserved recognition. Thank you for all you do for CWI.

CWI Library Welcomes New Staff
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Library is pleased to welcome Jean-Louise Zancanella as the library’s first public services librarian. This new position will focus on establishing best practices in library customer service to ensure that all patrons have a positive experience every time they use the CWI Library. Please join in welcoming Jean-Louise to this exciting new role, and look for constant improvements as she streamlines the library’s customer service. Weapons on Campus Resources Online
With Idaho’s new legislation that allows individuals with enhanced concealed carry permits to carry weapons on public college and university campuses in effect, College of Western Idaho (CWI) has added important safety information on the College’s website. Resources, including CWI’s administrative procedures and frequently asked questions, can now be found at cwi.edu/info/weapons-campus.

CWI Adds Campus Security Email
In support of College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) commitment to the safety and security of its campus community, CWI has established a new Campus Security email address to help with communication. Any employees or students with a safety question or concern, or who need to report a crime that is not an emergency or suspicious activity can email security@cwi.edu. Campus Security can also still be contacted by calling 208.562.3333.

FCC to Light the Night
Members of the College of Western Idaho (CWI) Fun and Culture Committee (FCC) are organizing a group of volunteers to help staff the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night Walk. The event, which serves as a nation-wide fundraiser for the organization, will be held Oct. 2 at Ann Morrison Park in Boise. Registration is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. There will be a remembrance ceremony at 6 p.m. and the walk will begin at 7 p.m. More information on the event can be found at www.lightthenight.org/oswim.
Volunteers are needed to help with set up, clean up, first aid stations, and more. CWI employees interested in joining the FCC volunteer team should contact Sean Muldoon at seanmuldoon@cwi.edu or Lindsay Reynolds at lindsayreynolds@cwi.edu before Sept. 26.
Nominations for Faculty Recognition
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Faculty Recognition committee is accepting nominations for Faculty of Distinction. Faculty, staff, students, and administrators, are encouraged to nominate a faculty member that they feel is doing an outstanding job. Please submit nominations by emailing yourock@cwi.edu. Be sure to include the faculty member's first and last name, department in which they work, and the reason for the nomination.
