4th Annual CWI Garbology Day
The College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Anthropology and Biology Clubs, in partnership with the CWI Sustainability Committee, are hosting their fourth annual Garbology Day on April 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the east lawn of the Nampa Campus Academic Building. The objective of Garbology Day is to raise awareness of campus recycling and compost programs while also promoting sustainable practices and the environmental awareness theme, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.
Please join us as we perform a waste audit on the garbage at the Nampa Campus Academic Building. During the activity, club members will discover what items were thrown away, what could have been recycled and composted, and what resources students and faculty are consuming on campus. This process provides many interesting insights into environmental education, sustainability, and human behavior.
Results CWI campus waste audits are catalogued by the CWI Sustainability Committee to create educational materials informing the CWI community about proper recycling practices and how to reduce the carbon footprint of CWI campus operations.
