College of Western Idaho (CWI) held its annual event STEM Out! into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Medical Careers Saturday, Oct. 14. More than 140 sixth through ninth graders attended, while 24 programs were represented and numerous staff and faculty participated from CWI.
“All of the kids had a wonderful time! They were so excited to tell me about it that they had a hard time taking turns in the car on the way home,” said one parent. “All evening I've had kids coming to tell me something else they learned or enjoyed that they had forgot to tell me. I appreciate all of the work that went into making it an amazing day. Thank you!”
STEM Out! offers potential future CWI students career information and hands-on experience in many CWI programs. From Archaeology and Biology to Cyber Security and Dental Assisting to Drafting and Law Enforcement to Surgical Technology and Welding, sixth to ninth graders in attendance had the opportunity to experience potential careers and begin thinking about their futures.
“My friends and I had a lot of fun while learning about all the interesting STEM careers offered at CWI,” said Ashley Hardy, a student at the event.
