Megan DeRoos was on a mission last year! Navigating her way past the 50 programs showcased at the College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Program and Career Expo (PACE), she headed for the Physical Therapy Assistant booth.
Attending PACE was the first step in her journey back to college. After graduating high school 20 years ago, DeRoos dabbled in college, but now with her young children starting school – it was time for her to focus on her education.
The event is a great opportunity to explore CWI's programs through hands-on activities and demonstrations. DeRoos found PACE incredibly informational and liked the structure. She enjoyed the “open house” feel and adventure. Following her participation in the event, she decided to pursue a degree in Exercise Science.
“I’ve always been drawn to do something that helps people, and I love health wellness and fitness,” said DeRoos. “I’m already a mom, so I already have a nurturing side.”
Jake Hampton, a Powersports instructor at the College, is looking forward to his first PACE event and he has planned a unique and engaging display for visitors. While you are there, look for the all-terrain vehicle parked on top of a smashed car – guests will be able to climb into the ATV to get a fun photo!
PACE is a great way to discover educational opportunities available right here in the Treasure Valley. Technical programs such as Automotive Technology, Nursing, Software Development, as well as academic programs from Business to Science and Arts are represented.
The event is open to the public and will run from 4-7 p.m. at CWI’s Nampa Campus Micron Education Center; 5725 E Franklin Rd, Nampa, ID 83687. Programs, labs, and classrooms will be open for tours. Faculty, advisors, and industry representatives will be on-site answering questions.
