CWI in Full Fair Force

Published: August 2, 2012

The CWI Street Teams took their movement to the heart of Caldwell this past weekend with both the Geography and Physics Clubs joining in the festivities of the 125th annual Canyon County Fair. The Clubs provided a fun compliment to CWI’s comprehensive presence at the fair this year as the College was a community partner for a number of initiatives.

On Friday, CWI partnered with the Blue Star Mothers of America to present Military Appreciation Day at the fair, which collected nearly 150 personalized postcards that will be sent to active duty military personnel. Saturday, CWI continued its weekend at the fair as a sponsor of the Barnyard Dash as well as a participant in the Health/Wellness Expo. The Expo was a great opportunity to highlight the wide variety of health programs offered, while Business Partnerships / Workforce Development administered blood pressure checks and Body Mass Index analyses and distributed helpful skincare information.

The Street Teams enjoyed adding to the fair environment on Saturday by engaging with fairgoers while passing out sunglasses and frisbees, as well as applying temporary tattoos to some future CWI students (10-15 years from now)! Fair-goers were extremely responsive to both groups and were genuinely interested in learning about CWI and what this campaign is all about. The CWI teams had a great time at the event and racked up quite a few QR code scans sending interested students to collegofwhatif.com for more information.

The Speech and Debate team followed up these efforts with volunteer trash detail duties that led to raising funds for use in supporting the team in upcoming competitions.
