It’s that time of year when CWI welcomes in the new legislators and presents before various committees as a valuable resource dedicated to providing our community access to high quality education. Last month the College hosted the recently elected legislators in our area to a brief presentation on The Power of Community Colleges where we highlighted a strategy of how CWI, the business community, and state representatives can work together to ensure a robust economy and cherished quality of life in our community. The events were well attended and the feedback from our representatives has been positive. The presentation is posted on myCWI>CollegeResources>Communications & Marketing>Current Marketing>Messages.
As a public institution of higher education in Idaho, a substantial portion of CWI’s budget comes from state funding. We are working closely with the other two community colleges in our state to present a unified agenda on funding, dual credit, out of county tuition, and comparable data. All three community colleges partner to host legislators to a lunch on Jan. 21 where we will continue to engage in conversations and highlight the value our institutions are providing Idaho’s residents and the important role we play in the economic stability of the state.
