Single Parents
You are here
The Center for New Directions Single Parent and Displaced Homemaker programs provide events and individual support for Career and Technical Education students who are:
- Single parents; a parent with primary financial and custodial responsibility (50% or more) for supporting dependent children. Parents may identify as male or female and includes single pregnant women.
- Out-of-workforce because they have been working without pay to care for a household and want training to upgrade skills, change careers, or re-enter the workforce.
Single Parent Support Network
What is the Single Parent Support Network?
The Center for New Directions is building a support network within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) community for you! The single-parent student!
Join us as we create a social network of support where you can gain a sense of empowerment, increase your ability to self-advocate, and feel included in your community. All of this can increase your success in reaching your personal and academic goals as you move through college and onto employment in your chosen field. Each month we will get together to learn, share, and get to know each other. If you have ideas for discussion topics please let us know!
We can't wait to meet you!
