Professional Licensure

In compliance with the U.S. Department of Education College of Western Idaho (CWI) provides information pertaining to professional licensure and certification in correlation with programs offered through the College. CWI makes every effort to ensure licensure information is current; however, licensure regulations are frequently revised.

Requirements for professional licensure in healthcare and other fields vary from state to state. If you are considering a CWI program that leads to professional licensure with the intent to be licensed outside the state of Idaho, the following is recommended prior to beginning the program:

  • Review the licensing information provided for the applicable program(s) below.
  • Contact the appropriate licensing agency in the state or territory where licensure is intended. This will enable you to obtain the most up-to-date information about licensure requirements and confirm how a CWI program meets those requirements.
  • While progressing through the program, check licensing agency requirements regularly to monitor whether any licensure requirements have been updated and/or changed that could impact your ability to obtain the appropriate license.

To learn more, please review the licensure information provided for the programs listed.

NC-SARA

The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is an agreement among participating states, districts, and U.S. territories that establishes common standards for the interstate delivery of postsecondary distance education courses and programs. Administered by the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) through four regional higher education compacts (MHEC, NEBHE, SREB, and WICHE), SARA is intended to make it easier for students to enroll in online programs offered by institutions located outside their state of residence.

College of Western Idaho (CWI) is regulated by the Idaho State Board of Education and is an approved participant in NC-SARA. As a participating institution, CWI adheres to the standards and requirements established by SARA for the delivery of distance education across member states and territories.

Students may view participating institutions through the NC-SARA Participating Institution Directory.

While CWI provides lists with professional licensure information, state laws and professional licensure requirements vary and may change frequently. Students are strongly encouraged to also consult the appropriate state licensing board or regulatory agency in the state where they intend to work. For additional information on professional licensure, visit NC-SARA Professional Licensure.

Student Complaints & Appeals

CWI strives to provide the highest quality educational opportunities available. However, if a conflict does arise, our efforts are meant to resolve your grievances, complaints, and concerns in an expeditious, fair, and amicable manner. We encourage informal resolution as a first step, working with faculty, programs, colleges, and similar structures, depending on the nature of the concern.

For further questions regarding student complaints or appeals related to online and distance education programs, students may contact:

SARA State-Level Complaint Process

The SARA program requires that students must first attempt to resolve complaints through applicable institutional complaint and appeal processes before submitting a complaint at the state level under the SARA complaint process.

If you have exhausted all available CWI appeal options and remain dissatisfied with the outcome, you may choose to file a complaint at the state level.

Students enrolled in CWI who are completing coursework from another state may file a complaint through the Idaho State Board of Education Complaint Procedures after completing all institutional appeal processes.

Students residing in Idaho and attending CWI are not covered under SARA and can use just CWI's internal complaint and appeal procedures.

Students residing in Idaho while attending an institution located in another state should contact the state agency responsible for SARA complaints in the institution's home state.

Students taking courses at an institution located in California will need to file an appeal through the California Department of Consumer Affairs, as California is not a SARA participant.

Additional information regarding SARA student complaints and appeals can be found on the SARA Student Complaints webpage.
