Student and advisor

Your Advisor

CWI students are assigned an advisor based on their program of study:

  • Degree-seeking students will be assigned an advisor based on their major within 3 – 5 business days of admission.
  • Non-degree seeking students may request to be assigned to an advisor by emailing academicadvising@cwi.edu.

Advising appointments are available in-person, by phone, or online.

First-Semester Required Advising

Students seeking a degree or certificate are required to meet with their assigned advisor within their first semester to:

  • create an academic plan
  • explore your goals
  • understand academic expectations
  • review degree requirements
  • ... and more!

Fulfilling this advising requirement during your first semester at CWI will allow you to register for classes in future semesters.

Major Changes

Students should meet with their advisor prior to changing their major. Changing your major may impact eligibility for financial aid and veterans benefits as well as increase the time it takes to complete your degree or certificate.

View Declaring/Changing a Major in the Student Records section of the catalog for more information.
