Why Technical Dual Credit?

Get a head start on a technical certificate or degree in manufacturing, health sciences, IT, and many more in-demand careers!

Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs provide an opportunity to learn real-world skills with hands-on training, connecting students to real careers. You will earn college credit for technical skills acquired while still in high school.

Technical Dual Credit aims to produce graduates who are ready for college level studies and/or direct entry into a high skill, high wage and high demand work force, as well as provide guidance in developing appropriate career pathways.

How does Advanced Opportunities funding apply?

Idaho Advanced Opportunities program provides funding for Dual Credit as well as approved Technical Dual Credit Exams. Explore the full list of qualifying Technical Dual Credit exams.

Advanced Opportunities funding does not cover the cost of any additional course fees, including tools, books, uniforms, drug tests, and supplies.

  • Technical Competency Credit (TCC)

    • $10 per credit
    • TCC is earned by your high school CTE instructor awarding badges in SkillStack and passing required high school and post-secondary assessments.
    • Credit is transcribed and purchased upon enrollment at an Idaho college or university with the corresponding CTE program as the high school SkillStack program and within 2 years of high school program completion.
    • TCC is not eligible to be covered by Advanced Opportunities Fast Forward funding since credit is purchased after high school completion when the funds are no longer available.
