Practical Nursing Applications Now Being Accepted

Published: September 1, 2023

Get ready to kickstart your career in the healthcare field through College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Practical Nursing program! The application period for the program's Spring 2024 cohort is open through Friday, Oct. 27.

With a combination of theory, laboratory instruction, and hands-on clinical experience, the Practical Nursing certificate will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

LPNs play a crucial role in healthcare, working alongside providers and other team members to record health histories, perform diagnostic tests, administer medications, and assist with patient follow-up. It's a rewarding career that makes a real difference in people's lives.

“I am very happy about the education I have received and everything I have gained along the way,” said 2022 Practical Nursing graduate, Alicia D. “Every teacher has been more than willing to listen and assist. They give great insight into how tasks and jobs need to get done. I think it’s great for building a foundation and how to do the role in the real world.”

The program is approved by the Idaho State Board of Nursing, and upon satisfactory completion of the program, a student will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) exam to become an LPN.

Completion of the program application process is required to be considered for admission into the program. Details on the application process and program requirements are available on the Practical Nursing program page.
